Product Description:
The Vortex Extreme 3 Channel Ready-To-Fly RC Electric Airplane
Imagine flying your own quiet and lightweight rc electric airplane
through parks, football and baseball fields or even at the beach. The Vortex Extreme ready to fly (RTF) rc airplane offers
smooth stable handling and flys at speeds perfect for the
grassy fields of your choice. While the Vortex Extreme flies
as effortlessly as the Vortex, the Vortex Extreme adds
increased control, advanced performance and the option of a
wireless camera for aerial video (sold separately). While still great for
beginners, the Vortex Extreme will excite you with its
advanced aerial capabilities.
The Vortex Extreme park flyer rc airplane advances control and performance using
precision engineering. When the winds kick up you will
notice the Vortex Extreme's increased stability and maneuverability over the Vortex by using its
wing's dihedral, its slick third channel and low center of
gravity. The Vortex
Extreme's altitude, speed and turning radius can all be
precisely controlled with the proportional rudder,
elevator and throttle. All of this in an inexpensive and
easy to fly rc airplane package!
Once you have learned to fly, equip your Vortex
Extreme with the optional wireless Eyecam aerial video camera! Once the
Eyecam system is installed the Vortex Extreme will be all
you need to produce high-quality aerial video. The Vortex
Extreme uses an articulating arm mount which protects
your video feed from vibration and allows you point the
camera in any direction. Our Eyecam base station outputs
a real-time RCA video feed that can be viewed or recorded
on many devices. An Eyecam power cable is also included
which taps the Eyecam into to the Vortex Extreme's flight
battery for power. Flight duration and performance are
not noticeably affected by the Eyecam.
Assembling the Vortex Extreme is simple, usually takes
only 15 minutes, and requires no glue or knives. We
include a DVD video with every Vortex Extreme to
walk you through assembly, step by step. Every step, from
charging the batteries, assembly, and even conducting
your pre-flight inspection, is covered on the video.
Worried about crashing your fantastic flyer?
Don't be. The Vortex Extreme improves on the Vortex's
already durable design to prevent crash damage. The wing
itself is less vulnerable to weak points because of its
single piece design. The propeller is located behind the
fuselage to prevent broken props and damaged gear
housings. In addition, we stock every part, and have put
together the Vortex Extreme accessory bundle - a
collection of the parts that are most commonly damaged in
a crash. There is no extra shipping cost if ordered with the plane!
Note: This product
does not include the eyecam video system or the accessory
bundle.

I bought the kit of 2 vortex extreme, and thought I'd post the initial review here too:
~~~~~~
I received these planes today and took one of them for a flight before the sun set with the family. It was a blast, and works as advertised. It quite stable and responsive, and surprisingly heavy once the battery is in.
After crashing it on a few hand-launched take-offs, I discovered that it needs a fair bit of thrust to take off properly. Once in the air, the plane is faster than I thought it would be, and is quite nimble.
The only comparison I have is a beaver (GWS), and compared to the beaver this plane is: heavier, seems faster, MUCH more crash-proof. It is also not as great at gliding, and the throttle is not smooth/ analog - so I find it a bit harder to keep the plane even.
I got this plane primarily because I am not a great pilot and needed something both crash proof and able to do novice manoeuvres. It has delivered on both fronts.
I highly recommend getting the spare parts/ extra battery kit, it is a good deal and comes in the same box for shipping.
I spent weeks trying to find a good canadian RC plane/ heli supplier, and I think draganfly is it!
Great work guys.
| I've had my airplane for over a year and this thing sure can take a beating. I've hit fences at full speed while diving and was able to pick it back up and through it right back into the air. I've also flew it in the winter and crashed it into snowbanks, and the electronics stayed in good condition (I can never recommend flying this in the winter though, I may have dodged a bullet with that one though :D).
I couldn't stress enough the need to get the extra wing battery and tail set. You are almost guaranteed to need another wing especially if you never flown before. While the wings are extremely durable, they generally don't hold up well when you hit a tree at full speed. The current wing that is on my airplane has been on it for months It's got tape covering some divots, it's also bent, but it somehow flies great. The first wing I had it split in the middle after hitting a tree at full speed. I did tape it back together with electrical tape, but it was too droopy to fly well, I'll probably will someday reinforce it with some wood which would probably make it flyable again.
One of the few problems I've encountered is the battery life is relatively short. I can only get about 10+ minute flights before the batteries die (the battery life is comparable with most other 3 channel airplanes). Also since it's 3 channel, and light weight, it can't fly in heavy cross winds well, but with skill you can fly it in moderate winds well. Be careful of becoming too confident as I flew it in like 10+ mph winds once and nose dived twice into the ground at full throttle, this caused one of the servos to become damaged, but i was able to rebuild it (pain in the neck to take out servos though). I was surprised the airplane could take that abuse.
This is a great beginner airplane this thing takes more abuse then you would ever think it could. After several full speed crashes into the ground and fences nothing was wrong with it, except all the guts started to hang out, but with a few quick swatches of tape everything can be placed back inside with no damage. Also, you can't keep this airplane out of the sky, with it's 3 foot wingspan, (wings are longer then the body) it glides great.
As I said this is a great airplane for beginners, it's also great to show your friends, or little kids they always enjoy watching it fly. It also brings a lot of attention and you can get some spectators :D. I recommend this airplane 100%. It's also worth mentioning that, the airplane reminds me of a strange seagull in the way it flies
I've had my Vortex Extreme for a while now. I found it to be an easy plane to learn fly. With its proportinal throttle you can make slow pases or full speed runs and loops! Its very simple to put to gether and very durable. After several rough landings and a few incounters with trees its still flying.
