MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) has developed an interesting application of the Draganflyer platform. Their sophisticated computer system allows many different Draganflyers to group and swarm together, collaborating on a task. Professor Jonathan How, with graduate students Mario Valenti, Brett Bethke, Daniel Dale, Xiaojie Hu, and administrative assistant Kathryn Fischer have all worked together to create this interesting system, with some incredible real world applications.
The system works by interfacing each Draganflyer to a computer and tracking each ones motion and orientation. The computer then calculates exactly what speed each rotor of the Draganflyer should be spinning at. It then sends signals relaying this information to the Draganflyers.
