Why Fly A Radio Controlled Electric Blimp?:
Radio controlled, indoor, helium airships are safe, very easy to fly, fun for all ages, and light enough to cause no harm when bumped into household objects.

How Do RC Blimps Stay In The Air?:
Blimps rely on lighter-than-air gas to provide lift. The gas filling the RC blimp takes up a certain volume, but weighs less than the same volume of air. This makes the blimp buoyant. A simple experiment to demonstrate buoyancy can be done with an air filled balloon and a sink or tub full of water. If you hold the balloon under the water, you will feel a strong force pushing up on it. This is because the air is taking up space, but weighs much less than the same amount of water. The heavier water is attempting to fill this space, thus pushing the balloon up.

Helium, Hydrogen, And Hot Air:
There are a few lighter-than-air gasses that can be used in RC blimps and RC airships. Helium is often used because it is easily available and safe. Hydrogen provides slightly more lift, but is not used as frequently due to its flammability. Hot air requires only a portable source of heat, and is used in hot air balloons, which are able to carry a heater and fuel .

What Are RC Blimps Made Of?:
Blimps usually consist of a gondola with electronics and fans, suspended from a gas filled envelope. In order to contain a lighter-than-air gas, a non porous material must be used. Mylar, a material also used in spacesuits is a common choice. Mylar is metalized plastic, and can contain helium much longer than rubber or latex.
